"Without diversity, there is no innovation"

Our Workshops and Programmes

Developing a Growth Mindset For Success

Growth mindset is the belief that one’s talents, abilities and intelligence can be developed through hard work and practice and it is recognised as a powerful tool that can help improve the success of an organisation.

However, individuals of a fixed mindset believe that a person’s intelligence and ability is fixed and therefore cannot be changed. Fostering a growth mindset culture within your organisation can help increase trust between employees, innovation and improve resilience.

This workshop is designed to help leaders and employees within an organisation determine how they can foster a growth mindset to encourage creativity and develop resilience. The workshop defines and explores fixed and growth mindsets, why it is important to the success of the organisation and how to cultivate a growth mindset culture. The workshop also explores wider issues that may impact on mindset such as identity, mental health and wellbeing and self-esteem.

Unconscious Bias

Our unconscious mind can have a strong influence on our everyday behaviour, judgements and decision making. The workplace is not immune to bias and therefore, such biases can have a negative impact on our colleagues, work and working environment.

During this workshop you will explore what unconscious bias is and how it impacts on your judgement and decision making. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the roots of their own biases and develop strategies for over-coming unconscious bias to improve performance and build a positive working environment.

Exploring Race, Identity and Difference

Exploring who we are and what makes us who we are is complex and too often we explore our identities in silos. However, it is important that we recognise that we are all individual, formed from multiple identities. Understanding and navigating that complexity is critical to understanding how to create an inclusive environment.

During this workshop you will have the opportunity to engage in frank and open discussions on race, racism and difference. Participants will reflect on their own race and identities, inequalities, privilege and recognise the benefits of embracing difference.

Addressing Microaggressions in the Workplace

Microaggressions are common in the workplace and are often difficult to identify because they are subtle and deeply rooted in unconscious assumptions and stereotypes. However, microaggressions can be extremely damaging and often leave individuals feeling uncomfortable and isolated. Microaggressions are one of the main reasons individuals leave organisations.

The workshop defines and explores microaggressions, the impact it has on individuals and the organisation. Participants will also learn how to identify and develop strategies to address and respond to microaggressions.

Impactful Allyship

Privilege is intersectional and therefore everyone benefits from privilege. Using your privilege to advocate for others is a fundamental element in advancing inclusion in the workplace.

Allies in the workplace provides opportunities to identify inequalities, grow, learn about other people’s lived experiences and actively work towards equality. Being an effective ally means using your privilege to support and lift up marginalised groups and help to foster a sense of belonging.

Incorporating allies in to your organisation strengthens employee relationships, builds resilience and transforms the workplace in to a positive working environment.

During the workshop participants will learn what it means to be an effective ally and develop practical skills to recognise inequalities and promote diversity and inclusion.

Facilitating Conversations on Race and Difference

Talking about race and difference can be difficult and it is often the reasons why people avoid engaging in such discussions. However, our society has become increasingly diverse and interconnected. For us to fully appreciate and celebrate our differences we need to talk, listen, learn, reflect and take action.

This workshop is designed to equip staff with the skills to plan, embed and conduct conversations on race and difference in the classroom whilst ensuring that they are maintaining a safe learning environment. Additionally, this workshop will equip staff with the confidence to talk about race and difference with colleagues. This will help create an inclusive working environment, improve working relationships and moral.

Decolonising and Diversifying the Curriculum

To decolonise the curriculum goes far beyond the reading list. It requires a critical evaluation of self, the learning environment, what you teach and how you teach it. It requires the dismantling of assumptions and the inclusion of diverse perspectives that reflects the student body and the wider society. The careful design of the curriculum can provide learners with opportunities to broaden their knowledge, become culturally aware and appreciate diversity. Furthermore, decolonising and diversifying the curriculum can improve the attainment and the experiences of learners.

The workshop will allow participants to explore the contents of their programme/course materials and develop pedagogical approaches to break down barriers to learning and provides opportunities for diverse voices and experiences to be heard.
